Destination or Journey?
When u travel is it about the destination or the journey?๐ค
This trip is about the journey. We have no particular destination in mind other than to visit friends in Grass Valley, CA and in Prescott, AZ later this month before we head home. Between those visits we plan to wander around Northern CA, mosey on up to Oregon and then Washington. Where we go depends greatly on the weather. We don’t do snow,๐จโ especially not with Shorty.
This journey began northbound on the iconic Pacific Coast Highway. We cruised thru Malibu and Zuma beaches and observed the many families enjoying the sun, sand and surf. Traffic rolled by the Getty Villa at a snails pace due to some street maintenance. But that’s ok, we are in NO rush.

As we cruised past Leo Carrillo State Beach we saw so many flowers. ๐ป๐ผ๐พ๐๐ธThe further North we drove we saw rolling green hills and more flowers. It was really pretty! All that rain ๐ง we had earlier this year did wonders for the landscape.๐๐
As we passed Ventura we saw artichoke and ๐ strawberry fields. We’d seen plenty of strawberry fields, but this was the first time either of us had seen artichokes in their natural habitat! โบ

Between Ventura and Santa Barbara is “Rincon Parkway Campground.” This no frills strip along Pacific Coast Highway (aka PCH) offers parking with ocean views. Boondocking at its best! We drove by to check it out. Reservations must be made online. My friend Carle highly recommends this spot for some serious relaxation.๐
As we continued Northbound we saw fields of horses and cows. Soon we were in Santa Barbara. We love Santa Barbara; it’s comfortable and homey, yet modern.
Trolly and “land shark” on State Street in Santa Barbara, CA.
We stopped for a bite at El Pollo Loco in Santa Barbara. After dining we looked at the map to see which direction we wanted to continue. We opted to continue on Highway 101 and saw an amazing sunset as we entered the city of Santa Maria.
We stopped for gas and decided to hunker down for the night at the local Cracker Barrel right off the 101.
Until tomorrow…๐ด

Beautiful sunset pictures!! Get ready to see many more on your trip up the NW coast. I am amazed at the many types of flowering trees and flowers here in Seattle, itโs just beautiful! We took a trip to the mountains on Sunday, it was on the NE Cascade loop, it can take all day, Iโd suggest if youโre not wanting to go too high up to map out the route for turnarounds. It is a relaxing trip with small towns quaint, some quirky establishments.
Have fun, on my way to San Josรฉ this morning!
